Functional , Spacious and versatile

I just got back from my first trip with the Alpha 2. I was easily able to fit in 4 days worth of clothing including the separate compartment which my suit and 3 shirts clipped in and folded up nicely . Even with packing the front compartment , the bag cleared the bulkhead of the plane with no problem. The width of the bag was narrower than my previous samsonite luggage and well worth the price due to its rotating wheels, durability and overall functionality.

DON"T Buy this suitcase

This new suitcase is terrible. Tumi's quality is not what it used to be and their customer service experience is worse. I have at least 4 other Tumi suitcases. I used to be a loyal Tumi customer - not anymore. The wheels on the case rattle so badly the case makes a noise when it rolls down the aisle in the airport. When I took it into the store for a repair the associate tried another case and "sorry" that is what they all do. For a $600 suitcase I expect better than that

Silence. That's what I heard emanating from the wheels as I strolled through LAS last week. And when I walked through DTW, the same outcome. Silence. Previously, I'd announce my presence via the noisy wheels coming from my carry-on, so this was the biggest difference noted. Other advantages:
1) the compartments inside performed quite well in keeping a variety of items in one place
2) the telescopic handle lifts & locks into place very well
3) turns are made effortlessly
4) moves very easily and is lighter than expected
5) the zippers move and secure better than I previously experienced
Disadvantages:
1) the handles are flushed very closely to the body of the carry-on and should have more travel as there is little room to grasp the handles. By no means a deal breaker, and I suspect with more use there'll be some inevitable give.
This is my first Tumi luggage purchase and I will look to buy additional pieces as needed. An outstanding product.
