R. Pasuttos
R. Pasuttos
circa 1880. Watercolour, signed `R. Pasuttos' lower left corner. Sheet size: 16 1/2 x 23 5/8 inches. A fine genre work on a highly decorative theme, from the 1880s. Two fashionable ladies, dressed in the styles of the late 18th-century, are seated in an equally fashionable drawing room of the period. One sings and plays a clavichord, whilst her visitor sits, fan in hand on a settee, with a slightly melancholy expression. In the foreground a small spaniel looks out at the viewer quizzically.
