Tullamarine, Australia: In its first year partnering with Tigerair Australia, BAE Systems has provided solid base and line aircraft maintenance services for the airline’s fleet of 13 A320 aircraft.

The company started providing line maintenance for Tigerair’s A320 fleet at Melbourne airport in October 2013. In March 2014, the partnership was expanded to provide similar support at Brisbane and Sydney airports.

Tigerair Australia Head of Engineering, Robin Furber, said: “The airline is pleased with efficiencies delivered through the aircraft maintenance partnership over the past year. BAE Systems has used its proven military experience to work with us to provide an enhanced focus on operational excellence as we remain committed to delivering the best in terms of safe, affordable and reliable air travel, which our customers demand.”

The company’s maintenance team has grown to more than 65 employees who support Tigerair 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

BAE Systems General Manager - Aircraft Integration, Maintenance and Support, Nic Maan, said: “Our team is performing really well and we are delivering some great capabilities to Tigerair Australia. We are already looking at further opportunities to strengthen and enhance the value that our capability brings to Tigerair’s operations. We will achieve this by making sure we continue to deliver outcomes that meet Tigerair’s performance strategy now and in the future.”
