Wine.Woot purchases now bypass your cart entirely! This means you gotta buy Wine.Woot items on their own, using your Amazon Payments account. You can't mix 'em up with stuff from our other sites. This cowboy's ridin' solo.

Be aware that anything in your cart from the other Woot sites is still out there and looking forward to your return. We'd hate for anything to sell out while you're reading this.

We knew a Crystal Basin once. But that's a story for another time ...

2012 was one of the rarest and most obscure years in the history of mankind. You probably don't even remember what happened because it was so long ago, and you were kind of busy. Here's a recap:

  • Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee, marking 60 years of her operating as the Commonwealth equivalent of Mr. Red from the Cincinnati Reds.
  • Lonesome George, a Pinta Island Tortoise, died. He was the last of his species. Bummer!
  • Felix Baumgartner demonstrated his love for Red Bull by falling from space.
  • Scientists created the first bionic melon.
  • Cake became an official food group.
  • An historic summit saw the first step in trade agreements between rats and squirrels.
  • Every Canadian child born in June was named "Orange."
  • Kansas seceded from the United States. When pressed by federal administrators for explanation, the governor said, "You guys are so lame."
  • Black market hat trafficking reached an alarming high. Musicians performed in April to raise awareness about the issue with their TV special "Hat Aid."
  • A new superbug emerged as the latest health threat. "Clam blindness" continues to plague populations across the globe.

2012 Crystal Basin El Dorado Reserve Zinfandel 750ml 4-Pack

Zinfandel grapes represent the history and legacy of Sierra foothill winemaking. We have been making Zin since 1981 when we were bootleggers under a house in Pollock Pines! We think that the best style of Zin is reflected in a Claret style by a medium-weight fruit expression with a lot of spice and a touch of raspberry on the finish.  These grapes are sourced from a vineyard directly across from the winery at an elevation of 3000 feet.  It snows on these vines folks!

We like to make non-tannic Zins that are pleasing to the palette, not bruisers. We don’t make acid adjustments to our wines. We think our medium-weight version of Zin is the easiest to enjoy with the kind of foods that wine-lovers like to pair with rich and flavorful wines – Tri-Tip, grilled chicken, garlicky pasta, spicy chorizo pizza, the list goes on and on!

We use a light touch on the oak and our minimalist winemaking style that shows all of the Zin fruit character possible in the finished wine. Our 2012 Zin is drinkable now, but can age nicely for more than 4 years and may peak by 2018. Most of all, we encourage you to share with your friends and enjoy!

Crystal Basin Cellars has its roots in amateur cooperative winemaking. Beginning under the house in 1981, CBC created a long string of vintages that captured fun times with friends. Steadily growing from 3 barrels to 25, CBC outgrew its space and was formed as a commercial winemaking operation in 2000. Since then, we've made more than 10,000 cases of wine that have been eagerly devoured by our fans and ourselves. We've been awarded a pack of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals since 2001. In fact, each of our vintages has won at least one Gold Medal at a major wine competition in California.

Our goal is to make wines from the heart is driven by a passion to craft the highest quality wines possible from El Dorado County grapes. At Crystal Basin, we are not grape growers but are blessed to have strong community connections to source great local grapes. We've been buying our fruit from the same super-premium vineyards for over 15 years.

One of the key strengths of Crystal Basin Cellars is our Team. We've worked together for a long time and we're all part-timers. We somehow always pull it together and look pretty good doing it.

Top Comments are discussion forum posts we have deemed worthy of your time. Listen, we get a lot of comments, and most of the time, it's pretty forgettable stuff; but sometimes you rise to the top like butterfat in milk. We don't recommend you base your self-worth on how often we feature your comments, but we don't expressly forbid it either.
