Vadivelu returns as "Jagajala Pujabala Tenaliraman" who is playing a dual role as King Maamannar and his minister. Yaaruda Mahesh (English: Who is Mahesh) is a Tamil romantic comedy film directed by R. Madhan Kumar. The film is the story of a young man Shiva (Sundeep Kishan) who suspects that his wife Sindhya (Dimple Chopade) has an illicit lover known as Mahesh. Sindhya's brother, Randy (Srinath), a psychiatrist tries to help by setting up a trick for Shiva to discover his interests as he is unemployed. As expected, Shiva’s life is about to change and soon his new journey begins in search for Mahesh. The fancy for this mystery character incidentally forms the crux of the matter. A comic urban story with a twist of romance, involves two people. Ajay (Shiva) who is well educated from his hometown, comes to Chennai looking for a job and Anjali (Priya Anand) is a passionate photographer from London, who is visiting India on pretext of participating in a photography competition. While on house hunting spree, they separately come across Narayanan (Santhanam), a house agent who dupes both with the same unoccupied house. Ajay and Anjali are caught in his scheme and due to this situation they have no money left to pay advance for a new house. After a lot of squabbling and fighting, they eventually decide to stay together until they find Narayanan. As they slowly settle down, they get to know each other and become friends. Ajay learns that Anjali is engaged to Deepak (Rahul Ravindran). Unfortunately, this does not stop him from falling in love with the lovely Anjali.

The movie portrays Sudeep in three shades. In the first shade, Bachchan is a Good Samaritan as a real estate manager and helps people from getting cheated by land sharks, is assisted by Anjali (Parul), his neighbor, working as a personal secretary. He romances Monica (Tulip Joshi), who arrives from abroad. His closeness to Monica makes Anjali upset, not because she is in love with him, but her sister Anjali and Bharat are in love. In the third shade, Bharat kills Dr Srinivasa Iyengar (Nasser), police inspector Mahesh Deshpande and a minister. Now, why did he kill them? It unfolds into an interesting story, which eventually brings to the fore of the mining mafia and questioning Bharat's social behavior and his failure to recognize what is real.

Karthik (Nitin) is a carefree guy who believes in independent life and decision making. At his friend Pandu's (Ali) wedding reception, his gaze falls on Shruthi (Isha Talwar) and is instantly smitten at first sight. He manages to get her cellphone number from Pandu’s wife. Excitedly, Karthik calls up Shruthi, but he has actually called up Shravani (Nithya Menon). Unbeknownst to him, Shravani knows who he is and develops an interest in him. This leads to series of events, only to begin with a goof up and a brewing romantic comedy. Will Karthik figure out his true love in the present situation? Prabhu (Siddharth) and his friends are discussing the possible escape routes between Chennai and Bangalore highway. Ritika (Ashrita Shetty) is a college student in Bangalore University and has just finished her last exam. For her safety her bodyguards always escort her, as her father is a famous local politician. Prabhu and his friends manage to whisk her away, without her bodyguards getting any hint of her disappearance. Manoj Menon (Kay Kay Menon), an encounter specialist is appointed to bring her back on the pretext that she has been kidnapped. A climax, a twist in the story with a race against the time, the unknown reason of her being willingly taken by Prabhu or was it a staged kidnapping or is it something to do with her Birthday. Raja (Karthi) runs a local cable television channel called "Triple A" and Kalyanam (Santhanam) is his assistant and a faithful employee. Raja is attracted to Chitra (Kajal Aggarwal), who is from an affluent family and dreams of making it big as an artist. Raja's normally supportive father is not in favor of the match. The Karthi steps into Prabhu's story set in the 80s, in flashback Raja's father and Chitra's grandfather played by Nassar, worked together along with some differences being insulted on some pretext. Vikram Prabhu and Priya Anand is the lead pair. Priya Anand's father dies and she is abducted. How Vikram Prabhu gets involved, rescues Priya Anand and unfolds the mystery of Priya Anand's kidnap is the rest of the movie.

The film is based in Madurai, where Siva (Mohanlal), a local don, rules the city with an iron hand and is openly involved in innumerable illegal activities, unmindful of the law. Shakti's (Vijay) biological father, who worked as Siva's driver is killed at the hands of a cop while trying to save his boss and his pregnant wife. Shakti is adopted by Siva and grows up to be his trusted and powerful right hand man, in charge of all his shady operations. The newly-appointed Commissioner of Police (Pradeep Rawat) insults Siva by arresting him. Deeply offended, Siva decides to make Shakti a police officer. He believes that having his own man inside the police department could be very useful for his operations. Since witnessing his father's death, Shakti has only contempt for all police officers. But despite his reluctance, Siva forces Shakti to become a cop. How this plan backfires on him forms the rest of the story.

The film is about 3 young boys who wish to turn into grown-ups by experiencing the wild side of the life, which is having sex. They get on with the task by visiting Singripete, a red light area. Unfortunately, their secret mission turns public while being telecasted on the Television. From here begins a non-stop, rib tickling action, a roller coaster ride as they get blackmailed by a Pimp and an escapade with the girls from brothel. In between they are caught in the most unexpected of troubles with a dead body. While the villains and the cops are on their heels, the boys grow up learning responsibility and lessons of life. Aravindan Sivasamy (Jayam Ravi) was brought up in an ashram, which is managed by Nassar (Harichandra Gurukulam's Principal). He grew up with very high moral values, discipline, dignity and faith. As he moves out of the ashram, his beliefs and his knowledge gets questioned by a corrupt system. It unsettles him and encourages him to fight against an immoral society. He decides to take on corrupt bureaucrats, and in this mission to fight against corruption, he is joined by his friend (Soori), a lawyer (Subbu) and journalist (Gopinath). They put together a plan and successfully expose 147 government officials, including a court judge and a MP, who are caught taking bribes. The corrupt bureaucrats team up to fight against Aravindan and his team with a look-alike named Narasimha Reddy (Jayam Ravi) (CBFC U DIL/1/199/2014-CHE).
