A well-attended AGM held on 19 October saw a changing of the guard at the top of the Club. Chris Gordon completed his three years as Commodore and handed over to Greg Lamb; Mike Dawe succeeded Greg as Vice Commodore sailing; and John Rees became Vice Commodore House . . . We are sad to announce the death of Julia King. Julia and husband Gerry joined HISC in 1964 from Portchester SC. It was at Portchester where she sailed a dayboat named Almorah, also the name of her last boat that she sold in 2010 . . . more . . .

After six years on the HISC Youth Committee, the last two as Youth Rear Commodore, Anne Marie Wood and her team have been instrumental in making youth the largest growing section at Hayling Island Sailing Club, as well as broadening its appeal by offering new initiatives designed to get children on the water in a number of fun and informal formats . . . more . . .

The HISC Get Racing Club, launched in April 2014, concluded its on-the-water events for the 2014 season with a final session on Saturday 3 October . . . Over the course of the year the Get Racing Club initiative has enabled 200 sailors to get on the water to learn key racing techniques, improve their confidence and gain valuable racing skills and experience . . . The initiative has been hailed a resounding success and has provided adult members at the club with a unique opportunity to learn from highly experienced volunteer ‘racing mentors’ in a fun and learning environment and all for no cost . . . more . . .
