Clark proud to represent GB on big European stage

The last 12 months in particular have seen Clark establish himself as one of the team's leaders and is looking forward to helping the team bounce back from their Icelandic loss when they lock horns with Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday evening.

"It's a very different role that I have within the team now," explained the forward.

"I really enjoy helping to lead the group since we don't have several of our key players available.

"It's a great responsibility and after all, who wouldn't love helping their country out in this way? That is why getting a win against Bosnia and Herzegovina would mean the absolute world to me."

Clark amassed an eye-catching 20 points and eight rebounds in the curtain-raiser against Iceland and despite his positive contribution, admitted the team had been outgunned.

"It was a disappointing result for everyone and Iceland just played really hard and did better than us offensively in that decisive final quarter," confessed the Londoner.

"We don't know if we have shot ourselves in the foot yet and won't know until all these next three games have been played. But importantly, these are winnable games for us and especially because two are at home and if we can get all the fans behind us, it will be a big help."

Having played his entire career in Spain and mostly with Estudiantes, the 25-year-old is well-placed to appreciate the credentials of the renowned Dusko Ivanovic, who will make his debut at the helm of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

For Ivanovic, who is currently at Panathinaikos, held the reins at Barcelona and also in Vitoria, where Clark signed last summer before suffering a serious injury.

"He is a legend in some parts of Spain and has won everything you can win at club level," confirmed Clark.

"We therefore know they are going to be very well drilled and have some great players including Mirza Teletovic who is at the NBA level. Bosnia are just an all-round good team who really do know the ins and outs of basketball."

"I think it will be a great game for the fans and a very interesting game."

"Ideally, we would like to get off to a positive start," added Clark.

"There have been some difficult challenges in the past, but we have managed to deal with them and that is very much our mind-set at the moment."

Bosnia and Herzegovina arrive in London arguably without three of their four major players.

For while their NBA kingpin Teletovic of Brooklyn Nets is set to lead their challenge, influential guard Nihad Djedovic looks to have lost his race to gain full fitness, naturalised option DJ Cooper won't be suiting up and the recently drafted Jusuf Nurkic is an unexpected late withdrawal.
