Chippington nominated for IPC Female Athlete of the Month

Following a bumper month of para-sport, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) split August's Allianz Athlete of the Month into three categories - Best Male, Best Female and Best Youngster.

After Ukrainian swimmer Yevheniy Bohodayko was announced as the winner of the Best Male category on Thursday (11 September), following his performance the 2014 IPC Swimming European Championships, the public can now vote for the Best Female.

Fans have until 18 September to decide who out of the following six athletes is their favourite via a poll at www.paralympic.org.

Jeannette Chippington (GBR) canoe - Despite only taking up the sport in 2012, Chippington was crowned a seven-time para-canoe world champion with two more titles at the 2014 ICF Canoe World Championships in Moscow, Russia.

Margarita Goncharova (RUS) IPC Athletics - At the 2014 IPC Athletics European Championships in Swansea, Great Britain, Goncharova was one of the joint top medallists, taking four gold medals in the 100m, 400m and long jump T38 and the 4x100m T35-38.

Sarah Morganti (ITA) equestrian - Young Italian Morganti caused arguably the shock result of the FEI World Equestrian Games as she took a remarkable gold ahead of British Paralympic champion Sophie Christiansen and Singapore's most decorated star Laurentia Tan.

Teresa Perales (ESP), IPC Swimming - On her return from serious illness and despite not having a sufficient training venue until recently, Teresa Perales defied the odds by winning a staggering four S5 gold medals at the 2014 Euros in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

Manuela Schaer (SUI) IPC Athletics - Schaer achieved the incredible feat of taking four gold medals at Swansea 2014, winning the 400m, 800m, 1,500m and 5,000m T54 events.

Liesl Tesch (AUS) sailing - At the 2014 IFDS Combined Sailing World Championships in Halifax, Canada, Tesch, along with her partner Daniel Fitzgibbon, secured their first ever world title ahead of Great Britian's six-time champions Niki Birrell and Alexandra Rickham.

The public has until 12:00 (CEST) on 18 September to vote for their favourite.

The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and International Federations (IFs).
