Jelly was founded in April 2013 by Biz Stone and Ben Finkel. We chose the jellyfish to represent our product because it has a loose network of nerves that act as a "brain" similar to the way we envision loosely distributed networks of people coordinating via Jelly to help each other.
The idea for Jelly is a complete reimagining of how we get answers to queries based on a more human approach. Jelly is a mobile application that uses photos, interactive maps, location, and most importantly, people to deliver answers to queries. On a fundamental level, Jelly helps people.
Our team is small and passionate. We have office space at One Letterman Drive in the Presidio—part of the campus built by Lucas Film. It's a beautiful part of San Francisco overlooking the Golden Gate bridge with easy access to hiking trails and Baker Beach as part of the National Park Service.
Bijan Sabet (Spark) and Josh Elman (Greylock) are on our board. Biz Stone is our CEO. Investors include Jack Dorsey, Bono, Reid Hoffman, Steven Johnson, Evan Williams, Jason Goldman, Al Gore, Greg Yaitanes, and Roya Mahboob. Loren Brichter, Greg Pass, and Raymond Nasr serve on our executive advisory board.
