The Chief Executive is responsible for leading the organisation as it works to maximise British athlete success at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as seeking to ensure that both the best structure and resources available to high performance sport are in place in the years beyond.
Business Support
David Cole
Chief Operating Officer: David Cole
UK Sport's Corporate Development work area provides essential support to the organisation in the areas of human resources, information technology, facilities, legal advice, corporate planning/risk management and project management. The team also manages UK Sport’s corporate relationship with the DCMS, co-ordinating the production of the organisations’ Funding Agreement, as well as responsibility for the organisation’s Business Plan for the London Olympiad cycle.
The role of UK Sport's Governance work area is to ensure that the two funding streams managed by the organisation - Lottery and Exchequer - are delivered to sports in the most effective way.
Performance
Simon Timson
Director of Performance: Simon Timson
The Performance Directorate look to ensure sports are best prepared to deliver medal success at future summer and winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. This includes the active delivery of Mission 2014 and 2016 through leading the Performance Advisor team, and the teams delivering vital support programmes in Talent Identification and Development, Research and Innovation and Coaching.
International
The International Development work area is concerned with the UK Sport's goal of supporting worldwide impact. UK Sport also plays a key role in the global development of sport through the support of projects overseas, exchange visits and information sharing with other nations. The largest single element of the international team’s work is currently International Inspiration – an Olympic-related initiative. UK Sport is the lead agency for this project which aims to deliver on the ‘Singapore Vision’ – the promise made by the London 2012 bid team to ‘reach young people all around the world and connect them to the inspirational power of the Games so they are inspired to choose sport’.
Major Events and International Relations

Director of Major Events and International Relations: Simon Morton
The Major Events and International Relations team is responsible for co-ordinating the bidding and staging of major international sporting events across the UK and developing the UK’s international sporting relationships.
The team works in partnership with sporting and regional partners to ensure that strategically important international events are staged in the UK, to a world-leading standard.
Commercial and Communications
Vanessa Wilson
Director of Commercial and Communications: Vanessa Wilson
The Commercial Team at UK Sport is responsible for working with partners across the sporting landscape to leverage commercial and Value in Kind sponsorship from the private sector to invest for the benefit of high performance sport in the UK.
The Communications, Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement Teams are responsible for managing UK Sport's profile and relationship with the public, parliament, partners and stakeholders through the effective deployment and integration of a range of communication and engagement channels and activities including the media, social media, digital, design and brand management, staff and stakeholder engagement.
