Katie Summerhayes admits her Sochi disappointment is propelling her towards gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Despite qualifying for the first-ever Olympic ski slopestyle final in third, Summerhayes couldn’t finish on the podium once the dust had settled, ending the competition in seventh place.

Although disappointed with her Sochi result, Summerhayes could still leave Russia with her head held high considering she suffered two knee ligament problems in the build up to the Games.

But now she is firing on all cylinders the 18-year-old admits she is concentrating on nothing but December and the start of the new season.

"I look back every day and I'm still really gutted," Summerhayes said.

"I keep thinking if I hadn't put my hands down it could have been so different but I've had that in my mind throughout training this summer and I'm going to get that Olympic gold.

"I've had an amazing summer (training) and learned so much. I can't wait to show people what I can do and I'll be going into all of my competitions with the aim of winning a medal."
