The GB Short Track Squad

Welcome to the home of GB Short Track

Short track speed skating is an adrenaline fuelled winter sport and in this site you will find all the information you need to know about Britain’s national team.

During the four competitive seasons that culminated in the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, GB Short Tack skaters achieved 19 ISU World Cup medals, 3 World Championship medals, which included Britain’s first ever individual female world medallist in Elise Christie, and a world record in the sports blue ribbon event, the men’s 5000m relay.

History was made at Sochi 2014 as Jack Whelbourne became the first British male to reach an Olympic final in the 1500m, while Elise Christie again became the first British female to reach an Olympic final. Jon Eley, Team GB Flagbearer at the Sochi 2014 Opening Ceremony, also managed his third top 8 finish at his third consecutive Olympic Winter Games with 7th place in the 500m.

The team now begin their next four year Olympic cycle where they hope to build on these results and aspire to win Britain’s first Olympic short track medal in over 20 years at Pyeongchang 2018.
