Book your exam 

You can book your exam in a number of ways. Whichever way you choose, please make sure you read the requirements for your chosen exam.

Application for an exam

Whichever way you book your exam, you will need to complete an application form. Please download the one relevant to your exam, complete it and hand it to your examiner at the start of your exam:

Booking your exam online

You can use the links below to book an exam. Please allow a minimum of 10 working days for an examiner to be allocated to you.

Booking your exam through a training centre

If you are taking an RYA training course prior to your exam or need to use a training centre's boat to take your exam, you can ask your centre to book the exam for you. To find your nearest centre go to Where's My Nearest and select 'Training Centres'.

Exams outside the UK

Exams outside the UK must be organised through an RYA training centre recognised for practical cruising courses or advanced powerboat courses (as appropriate). The centre must notify the RYA of any exams outside the UK and the location must be approved by the RYA.

For details of exams and fees in Australia, please contact Yachting Australia on training@yachting.org.au

Cancellations

If you decide to cancel your exam please contact your examiner direct by email or telephone and notify the RYA at exams@rya.org.uk.
