Advanced Marina Managers School
13 Marina Managers complete the Advanced Marina Management School
Thirteen delegates from marinas across the UK, Australia, China, Greece, Holland, Italy and Spain completed the Advanced Marina Managers School (AMM). Taking place in Southampton from 26-31 October it was an intense and demanding course for these marina managers.
Organised by the British Marine Federation (BMF), in conjunction with the Global Marina Institute (GMI), this course is a pathway for marina managers to achieving the Certified Marina Manager (CMM) or Certified Marina Professionals (CMP) Certification.
Across the six days the delegates were put through their paces covering subjects that included strategic planning, marina redevelopment and emergency planning with lectures, group work, practical application and networking. The course culminated in a field trip to four marinas in Gosport and Hamble including Haslar Marina, Swanwick Marina and Mercury Yacht Harbour.
Amanda Simpson, Training and Events Manager for the BMF said: “It was fantastic to see a variety of countries at this year’s AMM. The delegates worked incredibly hard and we look forward to their Certified Marina Manager applications in due course. The GMI pathway offers fantastic training for employees working in marinas to attain marina specific education which cannot be found elsewhere.”
James Burnell of Watchet Harbour Marina commented: “The course content was excellent and covered a good base of knowledge needed for my job, I would strongly recommend this course to others looking to develop themselves in marina management.”
The next step for the delegates is to apply for the coveted Certified Marina Managers or Certified Marina Professional Status.
