Biography

Helen MacNamara has spent 11 years at DCMS in a variety of roles. She was Principal Private Secretary to Tessa Jowell and worked on the Olympic bid, arts education policy, media and convergence. She was responsible for how the department prepared for the General Election and adapted to the new government. She became Director of Change at DCMS in September 2010.

Before joining DCMS Helen worked in new media, and studied history at Cambridge.

She grew up in North Yorkshire and was educated at a Catholic comprehensive school. Outside of work she has been a trustee of Target Ovarian Cancer since 2008 and is married with 3 children.
