Thanks to all who 'Pushed the Boat Out' 

People of all ages and abilities took to the water this weekend (17-18 May) to experience sailing and windsurfing with RYA Push the Boat Out.

The national event saw over 260 sailing clubs and centres up and down the country opening their doors to their local communities with Push the Boat Out ‘have a go’ sessions and open days.    

RYA Club Support Advisor Jackie Bennetts said: “Push the Boat Out is all about giving people the opportunity to discover the sport at their local sailing club and to find out just how easy it is to get involved.  

“We are delighted to see so many clubs and centres taking part in the weekend, running fantastic events for their local communities. Thank you to everybody involved for all of the hard work”.

Mike Gibson, Commodore of Bartley Sailing Club in the Midlands said: “We took advantage of the opportunity to open our doors so anybody who wanted to try sailing of any age ability, could get out on the water and see if they enjoy it. It’s important to try and show that the sport is not elitist and that it’s open to everybody".

Janice Beaumont, Croydon Sailing Club Secretary said: “We had an amazing turnout with 110% increase on last year’s attendance. Push the Boat Out day is an opportunity to make the local community aware of the club’s existence and the fact that they can join our club to sail a dinghy within London”.
