Try Sailing For Free At Arethusa Family Fun Day!

Chatham Docks centre opens its doors to all on Saturday 13 September from 10am

Try sailing for FREE and help raise money to bring together brothers and sisters separated by care when the Shaftesbury Young People charity hosts an awesome Family Fun Day at their Arethusa Venture Centre next Saturday (13 September).

Based within the safe surrounds of Basin No. 2, at Chatham Dockyard, the fun runs from 10am until 4pm and is guaranteed to offer something for everyone, regardless of age, gender, experience or ability.

As well as the chance to get a first taste of sailing, there will also be opportunities to go kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding plus kids' games.

The day’s main event will be the team Bell Boat races from 11am and raising money for Shaftesbury Young People's Siblings United project.

You can enter a team of 10 in advance by calling 01634 719933, but don’t worry if you haven’t got a team there will be plenty of opportunities to join one on the day! A donation of £10 (per team of 10) is requested.

Refreshments and a Hog Roast will be available to keep guests suitably fuelled to make the most of this action packed day. There is also free car parking and the opportunity to shop at the adjacent outlet retail centre.

All you need for the Family Fun Day are a waterproof jacket, soft soled shoes and a towel and Arethusa will provide what else you need.

Arethusa Venture Centre is a recognised RYA Training Centre, meaning it conforms to the highest standards of sailing quality and safety.

Earlier this year the centre was awarded official RYA OnBoard status to provide low cost sailing and windsurfing opportunities for local school and youth groups, enabling kids aged eight to 18 to learn to sail and stay in the sport.
