Monday, Jan. 28 In honor of the 2014 World Cup, which is 500 days away, international soccer superstar Pelé (@Pele) will be hosting a “500 days away” Twitter celebration. Pelé, along with other sports influencers, will be taking questions and tweeting to fans throughout the day.

Tuesday, Jan. 22; 10-11 p.m. EST After much clamoring from fans, Lauren Graham – the star of Gilmore Girls and Parenthood – has joined Twitter as @TheLaurenGraham. She will be live-tweeting the season finale of @NBCParenthood on Tuesday, Jan. 22 from 10-11pm EST, providing behind the scenes commentary and chatting with fans about one of TV’s most popular shows. Till then, use #AskLauren to tweet her questions, which she’ll answer during the finale.

Monday, Jan. 14; 10 p.m. ET Hawaii Five-O (@hawaiifive0cbs) is the first-ever show to allow fans to choose its ending in real-time. As the drama unfolds on screen, viewers can vote for the show’s culprit by tweeting the suspects: #TheTA, #TheStudent, or #TheBoss. Behind the scenes, the Hawaii Five-O production team will be tallying the votes, putting the post popular selection on air to end the show. Today Nielsen announced an agreement with Twitter to create the “Nielsen Twitter TV Rating,” an industry-standard metric that is based entirely on Twitter data.

As the experience of TV viewing continues to evolve, our TV partners have consistently asked for one common benchmark from which to measure the engagement of their programming. This new metric is intended to answer that request, and to act as a complement and companion to the Nielsen TV rating.
