RYA Equality Videos
These “What if I...” video case studies help to develop a greater understanding of discrimination and equality.
Earlier this year the RYA produced a series of six short videos to help clubs, centres and organisations understand how the Equality Act 2010 impacts on what they do, their premises and their policies.
These videos are about understanding Equality and discrimination and the Equality Act 2010 means that organisations have to provide for and not discriminate against someone due to their personal characteristic. So this could change the way you do things, the nature of your buildings or even the policies of your organisation. The Equality Act lists 8 characteristics about which it is actually illegal to discriminate. These are
- Age
- Disability
- Sex
- Marriage & civil partnership
- Pregnancy & maternity
- Race
- Religion & belief
- Sexual orientation
- Gender reassignment
The series of videos have tried to present situations that are similar to those which you may encounter and suggest some solutions to the challenges that arise.
