Archery

Over the course of the last three Paralympic Games, Archery has proved to be a sport in which Britain excel.

GB secured two gold medals in Athletics in Beijing, both won by David Weir in the T54 800m and 1500m. Since then, however, the GB team has gone from strength to strength under the careful guidance of head coach Peter Eriksson, who took over in 2009.

Boccia

Great Britain's Boccia team put in an outstanding performance in Beijing, bringing home a gold in the BC1/BC2 Team event and a silver in the Individual BC2. Since Beijing, the British team has maintained its reputation as a leading nation in Boccia.

Cycling

British cyclists led the medal charge in Beijing, winning 17 golds and three silvers to finish top of the Cycling medal table and confirming that Great Britain are a leading nation both on the Road and the Track. They went on to achieve similar success in London, topping the Track medal table again.

Equestrian

Great Britain has been at the forefront of the sport since its inception at the Paralympic Games in Atlanta 1996 and has won Team gold at every Paralympic Games since.

Football 5-a-side

ParalympicsGB had never competed in Football 5-a-side until Beijing 2008. The GB team qualified for Beijing by virtue of their 2nd place finish at the 2007 European Championships, in which they lost out to six-time European Champions Spain.

Football 7-a-side

GB finished 7th in Beijing, where they were making their first appearance in this sport since 1992. Since then, the players have continued to progress in their sport, including winning bronze at the 2010 BT Paralympic World Cup.

Goalball

ParalympicsGB did not take a Goalball team to Beijing, but both the GB men’s and women’s teams made many improvements to their performance programme in the 2008-2012 cycle and moved strongly towards London 2012, following their successful bid to achieve their home nation slots for the Games.

Judo

Britain's judokas secured a bronze and a silver at London 2012, a fantastic achievement given the difficult circumstances leading into the Games.

Para-Canoe

Para-Canoe will be one of the sports joining the programme at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio.
