Buddy Melges Challenge 2010
Sheboygan, USA

Day one of the ISAF Grade 1 Buddy Melges Challenge at the US Sailing Center Sheboygan in Wisconsin, USA, saw some great racing amongst the 15 international teams in the Elliott 6ms.
The winds were light but that did not keep the sailors from putting on a display of great match racing for the spectators.

Sixteen of the world's best women's match racing teams representing nine nations are in Shebyogan at the last regatta before many of them will travel to Newport for the 2010 ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championship.

On the first day of competition the Australian skippers, Nicky Souter and Katie Spithill both posted a clean sweep of victories in Group B. Juliana Senfft (BRA) also put in a solid performance, winning her two flights against Mandy Mulder (NED) and Margaret Shea (USA).

In Group A, Samantha Osborne (NZL) posted four wins from five whilst the strong American contingent, Anna Tunnicliffe, Genevieve Tulloch and Sally Barkow , have all lost one flight each, winning three from four.

Racing continues today (Friday) to complete Stage 1. The Quarter Finals will follow on Saturday and the Finals on Sunday.
