Yngling World Championship 2005
Lake Mondsee, Austria

After races three and four of the ISAF Grade W Yngling World Championship on Lake Mondsee, Austria, the American team of Sally BARKOW, Carrie HOWE and Debbie CAPOZZI hold the lead, although no single team has completely got to grips with the shifty conditions
A bullet in yesterday's first race lifts the Americans into the top spot, despite the fact they followed it with a finish of 18 in race four. On 30 points, just two points separate them from the Australian team of Nicola BETHWAITE, Karyn GOJNICH and Helen IMPEY who posted the most impressive scores yesterday with a fourth and a third place. Sharon FERRIS, Raynor SMEAL and Ashley HOLTUM (NZL) are only a further two points behind in third place after they scored a bullet in race four.

Defending champions Trine PALLUDAN, Ida HARTVIG and Christina OTZEN (DEN) began the day in first place overall, but a disappointing day with finishes of 23 and 13 sees them fall back to sixth on the leaderboard. They are tied on 45 points with 2004 Olympic silver medallists, Ruslana TARAN, Anna KALININA and Svetlana MATEVUSHEVA (UKR), whilst number two team in the ISAF World Sailing Rankings, Ekaterina SKOUDINA, Diana KRUTSKIKH and Tatian LARSTEVA (RUS) are a point further back. The leading team in the Rankings of Kristin WAGNER, Anna HOLL and Christina HOLL (GER) are still having a tough time on Lake Mondsee lying 22 overall.

Maarten JAMIN, Gert Henk BAKKER and Jansje HOFSTRA (NED) have taken the overall lead in the open fleet after finishing second in race three of the Championship. Due to two failed starts and the changing wind conditions, only one race was sailed yesterday. Local heroes Christoph, Georg and Susanne SKOLAUT (AUT) came in third in race three and move up to second overall, eight points behind JAMIN. Overnight leaders Rudi MAYR, Wolfgang DAURER and Sarah ZADRAZIL (AUT) drop to third finishing 14th. The bullet went to Torn OTTE, Maryke VON OGK and Ester OTTE (NED), a result which sees them rise to fourth overall.
