The first morning race on the final day had a difficult start. Heavy winds, high waves, and a general recall twice in a row, caused the necessary delay. Curaçao's hope for a top ten spot, Kevin van Otterdijk, unfortunately suffered material damage right before the start and therefore could not compete in the ninth race. This left him with a lot of penalty points, but luckily after requesting a redress, the jury compensated him by granting him the redress and giving him an average score of his previous races.

The race was initially dominated by the Argentinean Francisco Renna, but halfway through the race he was overtaken by Dellagnelo. The Brazilian set the tone throughout and won the ninth race and claiming the title ahead of the final race.

Alex Zimmerman (PER) took the win in the last race. In the final ranking, Zimmermann took second place, followed by Renna. The best sailor from Curaçao was Ard van Aanholt who was fourth.

Former multiple World Champions David Loring and P.J. Patin from the USA only took fifth and 11th place respectively. Multiple World Champion Smith from Bermuda was 15th, 2010 World Champion Jonathan Martinelli from Ecuador was 17th, and former World Champion in 1980, Cor van Aanholt came 19th.

The World Championship was a huge challenge for sailors as well as organizers. Great heavy weather conditions and the extreme depths of the sea so close to the coastline (600-800m) make Curaçao a unique and perfect location to hold big sailing events.
