470 World Championship & Olympic Qualification
Cagliari, Sardinia

A further three races have been sailed at the 470 world championships in 7-12 knots of breeze.
Racing is getting tough at the top with a further three race results disrupting the podium positions yet again and changing the order of the top three.

Simon Cooke/Peter Nicholas (NZL), have regained the lead after scoring a 10,17,4 score-line in the gold fleet. Day four leaders, Nathan Wilmot/Malcom Page (AUS), have dropped to third place overall, and the two teams are separated by Andreas Kosmatopoulos/Konstantinos Trigonis (GRE).

Nick Rogers/Joe Glanfield (GBR) dropped from third to tenth overall after the three races. It did not go their way on day five of the championships, scoring a nineteenth, 27th and seventeenth.

In the women's gold fleet, there was no change in the top three and the gold medal looks almost decided. Sofia Bekatorou/Emilia Tsoulfa (GRE) scored a thirteenth, third and a tenth place, to extend their lead to twenty points over Lisa Westerhof/Margriet Matthijiss (NED). Vlada Ilienko/Diana Krutskih (RUS) are just three points behind the Dutch team, and will be battling it out over the next two days to decide the colour of medals that these teams take home.

There are still two days of racing to go, and it looks set to be a battle all the way to the gold medal.
