2012 Olympic Games Sailing Competition

There is less than one week left to apply to be a London 2012 Games Maker. The deadline is Wednesday 27 October so if you want to volunteer and have not yet applied then act now!
Volunteers have been integral to the Olympic Games since they were used for the first time in London in 1948 and it is the opportunity of a lifetime. For 2012 Volunteering will be returning to

As a London 2012 Games Maker who will be one of the faces of London 2012. Up to 70,000 volunteers will be recruited for a wide range of roles from transport, to security, technology to cleaning and press operations to protocol.

Volunteers must be 18 or over on 1 January 2012 and have the right to volunteer in the UK. You must volunteer for a minimum of ten days during the Games and attend at least three days of training.

Sebastian Coe, Chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee, said: 'Volunteering with us will be challenging but the rewards are life-long as our London 2012 Games Makers will literally make history happen. We want the best team players in the UK to apply, people who show the same qualities as our athletes including dedication, focus and grace under pressure.

'Whatever your role, you will help welcome the world and show what the UK has to offer. If you have what it takes to be a London Games Maker, apply now!'

The 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition will be hosted by Weymouth and Portland with 380 athletes competing across ten events.
