International Olympic Committee president and former Olympic sailor Jacques Rogge was a surprise visitor to the National Sailing Centre on Friday.
He spoke to many of the competitors, including 2010 girls world Byte champion Niki Blässar of Finland.

"I did not know what to say, it is a great honour," said Blassa.

"He asked me where I train so I told him. He told me he'd been sailing in Finland and he had found it very cold."

French windsurfer Maxime Labat said: "I think it's very good to see him here. It's good for sailing and a good thing for this centre."

Rogge even contributed some artwork to a mural the sailors have been feverishly painting for the last few days.

"He did a good job, I think. He definitely did a better painting than us," said Labat.

German Byte sailor Florian Haufe said: "He is a strong voice for sailing on the Olympic committee and it was great that he was watching us."

Rogge was accompanied by Singapore's deputy prime minister Teo Chee Hean and Youth Olympic Games 2010 chairman and IOC member Ng Ser Miang.
