At the first mark Brazilian, Daniel JAKOBSSON led a multi national group of Javier PEDRON (ESP), Mathieu FREI (FRA) and Antonis TZORTIS (GRE). As these four traded places in a tight group on the downwind Jakobsson extended his lead to 14 seconds over Coutts by the end of the leg.

He held his lead throughout the next two legs although with a reduced margin over series leader Jean Baptiste BERNAZ (FRA) who had worked through from tenth. Jacobsson said "On the second downwind I lost some of my lead and was slow until I realised I had picked up some weed on my centreboard. On the last reach I was attacked to windward by Tzortis and moved up to defend my position and Bernaz passed me to leeward. Straight after I rounded the last mark I had to tack away to clear my wind which allowed Tzortis through." There were no further changes in the top three on the short windward leg to the finish.

The wind increased in strength to 12 to 14 knots for the second race and the race committee stretched the first leg to a mile. Nathan OUTTERIDGE (AUS) was first to show ahead of Campbell DAVIDSON (GBR). Behind the leading group racing was close especially at the first mark rounding which resulted in several protests. Outteridge maintained his lead downwind. On the next upwind Outerridge played the left to middle side of the course whilst Morgan went right which proved to be the better tactic as he gained the lead at the second rounding of the windward mark. Outteridge had dropped to fifth but recovered two places downwind and passed Davidson on the reach. Morgan held his lead until the last reach when he picked up a yellow flag penalty from the jury and his 720 degree turn cost him 4 places. Outteridge went on to win from Davidson with Daniel MIHELIC third.

Bernaz finished eighth which was his second worst result of the series but he is able to drop this result as his second discard and keep his overall lead by 4 points over Outteridge.

Behind these two Padron lost the opportunity to improve his overall position after losing a seventh place in race 10 after a protest by Tzortis for a collision at the windward mark.
