RYA APPOINTS DUNCAN WEST AS CLUB AND PATHWAY COACH IN THE SOUTH AND SOUTH WEST ZONES.

The RYA has appointed Duncan West as an RYA Club & Pathway Coach Officer for the South and South West Zones.

His principal role is to help clubs develop their junior and youth training as well as racing.  Effectively he will be overseeing all the RYA Champion Clubs, the established Team 15 clubs and Academies, along with any other club that would like to aspire to be an RYA Champion Club or a Team 15 club, within the South and South West zones.

His primary focus will be helping clubs engage more young sailors in race training and encouraging them into effective racing pathways within clubs. Within this role he will offer advice on organising junior and youth training and either organise or give instructor or coach development to enhance existing sailing club programmes.

He will also organise RYA level 2 race coach courses as required and help RYA Champion Clubs and Team 15 to develop  the training or racing for junior and youth sailors. Duncan brings a wealth of experience to the position.  He is RYA National Squad Coach (optimists), South West head zone coach (Toppers), RYA Dinghy Coach Assessor, RYA Powerboat Trainer and lead tutor for level 2 Race Coach Courses.

Please feel free to engage with Duncan at any level, he is there to support your club!
