Thames Valley Youngsters head to National Final
Two young powerboaters from Thames Valley and London region are heading for the national final of the Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship at the PSP Southampton Boat Show on 14 September 2014.
After winning their regional finals
at Queen Mary Sailing Club in May the two are looking forward to doing battle
with other regional finalists from across the UK at the national event.
Jake Swainston (10) of Dinton Activity Centre will represent the region
in the 8-12 age group. Jake, from Binfield, won the qualifying heats at Dinton
Activity Centre in his first ever event in a powerboat to make the regional
final.
After the regional final Jake said: “I told my instructor I really
wanted to win and it’s amazing that I’ve won”.
Accompanying Jake, but In the 13-16 age group, will be George Galloway
(16) of Windsor Yacht Club.
George, from Windsor, also won the regional final last year. He said:
“I’m really proud to be representing my region again in the national final.”
The Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship is a National Championship open to
RYA clubs, organisations and training centres where 8 - 16 year old RIB drivers
can demonstrate their skills with the goal of winning their club a brand new
Highfield 460 or a Honwave T40.
