The Boys from Bahrain
2010 Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship
An Naar Faisal

Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship 2010
Istanbul, Turkey

In their first regatta sailing a catamaran, the boys from Bahrain, Al Naar Faisal and Daoud Abdulla are the epitome of the catchphrase 'living the dream'
Al Naar and Daoud are enjoying their first taste of racing amongst the elite of youth sailing at the 2010 Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship in Istanbul.

The charming and well spoken boys sail at a club in Bahrain where they have Laser dinghies and two 420's, but no multihulls.

In their first major regatta sailing in a very competitive class against some very experienced youth sailors, Al Naar and Daoud started the week sailing at the back of the fleet but they are fast learners. To the surprise of their opposition, they scored two third places and a sixth in the eight races sailed to date. But this regatta is all about gathering experience and the weather conditions have been very testing for even the best sailors

"The weather conditions have been very difficult, the wind has been very shifty, but we need more time in this type of boat."

"We would very much like to continue sailing the catamaran and compete in more regattas like this."

Youth sailing should be inspired by Al Naar and Daoud and what they are able to achieve in such a short space of time. We wish them all the best in their quest to live out their dream and share their experiences back at home in Bahrain.
