Change your Google+ notification settings

Google+ notifications let you know when there's activity related to your profile, things you post, and more.

Change who can send you notifications

You can choose the people who can send you notifications in your Google+ settings. For example, you may want to be notified when your best friend shares a photo, but not every time a celebrity you're following shares one.

Android app
  1. Open the  Google+ app.
  2. Touch the  menu icon/button > Settings.
  3. Under Account Settings, touch the account you want to update.
  4. Touch Notifications > Who can notify me. Choose one of these 5 options:
    • Extended circles, which includes people in your circles' circles
    • Public
    • Your circles, which does not include the people you are just following
    • Only you to only receive notifications about yourself
    • Or pick people and circles allows you to enter specific people, some of your circles, or a combination of these.
Desktop computer
  1. Open Google+. Place your cursor in the top left corner for the Google+ main menu. Click  Settings.
  2. Next to Who can send you notifications? click the drop-down menu. Choose one of these 5 options:
    • Extended circles, which includes people in your circles' circles
    • Anyone
    • Your circles, which does not include the people you are just following
    • Only you to only receive notifications about yourself
    • Custom allows you to enter specific people, some of your circles, or a combination of these.

If someone outside of the circles or people you choose sends you a notification, you can still see it by clicking the  bell > Everything else. If you see someone here that you wish to be notified about in the future, you can always add them to one of the circles or custom settings that you chose in the Who can send you notifications? setting.
