Michael Cegielski

Mike CegielskiMike spent ten years serving with a humanitarian company in Russia after perestroika, assisting with hospitals, children’s homes, orphanages, and teaching strategic management at the state university. He is a graduate of the US Air Force academy, and served eight years as a R&D project manager with aerospace companies. Mike holds three masters degrees, in related fields of culture, leadership, and systems management.

Mike was a business consultant in Thailand for almost four years, and most recently served as the Executive Director of the Andana Retirement Community, a Thailand-based project for active retirees to experience a healthy, invigorating lifestyle.

Mike has been involved with HODR since its formative days in Thailand when he served as Executive Director for the Hands On Thailand recovery project; Hands On Thailand was HODR’s first response project, before the organization took on the name Hands On Disaster Response.

Jack Ferrebee

Jack FerrebeeJack served in the Army from 1966-1969 and has worked for the American Red Cross in Vietnam performing social services for military men and women and in the US in Disaster Services. Jack earned his BA from George Washington University in 1973 and his law degree from George Mason School of Law in 1976; he practiced law until his retirement in 2007. At the time of retirement, Jack was a partner in the firm of Hofheimer/Ferrebee, P.C. in Virginia where his practice involved general civil litigation. Upon retirement Jack and his wife moved to Savannah, Georgia.

Following the Fall 2008 series of hurricanes that devastated Haiti, Jack was moved by the dire need he saw on the news and traveled to Haiti as a volunteer to join HODR’s response project. Impressed with the effectiveness of the work he returned to the project with his wife in early 2009, and joined the Board in June 2009.

Eric Gebaide

Eric GebaideEric, Managing Director, of Innovation Advisors in New York, has over 20 years experience advising and operating public and privately held technology companies in every phase of their development, as an attorney, merchant and investment banker. Prior to founding Innovation Advisors, Eric was a senior banker for over five years with Broadview Int’l LLC (now Jefferies Broadview), and also practiced law in New York and Florida for several years.

Eric has been involved with HODR as a volunteer and donor since the organization’s Katrina response project in Biloxi, Mississippi, and joined the Board in December 2009.

Eric earned his MBA with honors from Columbia Business School, as well as a JD cum laude and AB from the University of Miami. He and his family live on Long Island, NY.

Peter S. Kirkwood, Esq.

Pete KirkwoodPete thrives in chaotic environments like disaster zones and small businesses. He earned his BA from Williams College in 1993 and his JD from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College in 1999. Pete has since been a copywriter, counsel for a technology company, real estate executive, board member of a conservation nonprofit, and humanitarian field volunteer. He now serves on the Executive Board of the Pocono Heritage Land Trust and manages Shawnee Craft Brewing, Co. in PA. In addition to English, Pete speaks Spanish, French, and Thai.

Pete was living in Phuket when the now-legendary tsunami occurred. In response to this disaster, Pete leveraged his knowledge of fundraising, understanding of real estate and construction, legal expertise, and fluent Thai language skills, to establish an effective framework for delivering significant relief where it was needed, quickly and accountably. That framework, with the help of David Campbell and others, coalesced into Hands On Thailand, which is the seed from which Hands On Disaster Response sprung.

Michael McQueeney

Mike McQueeneyOne of Summer Street’s founding partners, Mike currently oversees the firm’s investment activities and takes an active role in virtually every aspect of the investment process from debt sourcing to fund marketing. He serves on the board of portfolio company MaxQ Technologies.

A former senior executive with extensive sales, marketing and operations experience in the banking, manufacturing and construction industries, Mike is Treasurer of the National Association of Small Business Investment Companies. He earned his MBA at the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College and received his undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College. Mike resides in Buffalo, NY.

Darius A Monsef IV

Darius MonsefDarius Monsef is an entrepreneur and businessman with over five years of experience developing B-to-B & B-to-C online applications. Following the Asian Tsunami in 2004, he helped assist in the foundation of HandsOnThailand, HODR’s first project, and coordinated some of the response efforts throughout affected areas along the Thai coast.

Darius served as the Operations Director for HODR’s Hurricane Katrina Response Project, since HODR initiated operations in the first days of September 2005 until closing our operations in January 2006. He facilitated the day-to-day operations of the Katrina Project and the efforts of 50-100 volunteers and regularly meets with local, state and federal relief officials. Darius who is based in San Francisco, CA, joined HODR as a Board Member in 2009.

David Campbell

David CampbellHODR Executive Director – David Campbell, a resident of Carlisle, MA, has been a technology executive, board member, investment banker, and humanitarian field volunteer. He went to Thailand in 2005 immediately following the tsunami, and became one of the founders of HandsOnThailand.org, which brought over 200 volunteers and several hundred thousand dollars to assist the rebuilding of five Phuket fishing villages. In 2006, after a 1500-volunteer Katrina response project in Mississippi, this volunteer response model became known as Hands On Disaster Response and has brought volunteer assistance to thousands of families in need since it’s formative days in Thailand.

In addition to serving as a Board Member, David is HODR’s Executive Director, a full-time volunteer position.
