As yesterday's racing drew to a close there are now 16 competitors preparing for today's final. While they get a well deserved rest in the morning the remaining helms will do battle again.

From the first preliminary flight or series of races for the senior fleet racing in 1720 Sportsboats, Mark MANSFIELD, Peter O'LEARY, David TAYLOR and Conor BYRNE all qualified through to Sunday's final with both MANSFIELD and O'LEARY winning two races each.

On the water flight two finalists were defending champion David CROSBIE, John DRISCOLL, Anthony O'LEARY and Maria COLEMAN, although results are provisional.

Junior Event

All 25 Junior/Girls competitors raced yesterday morning in challenging conditions where the top eight progressed directly to Sunday's final. Now confirmed through are Aidan MCLAVERTY, George KENEFICK, Ronan WALLACE, Annalise MURPHY, Barry MCCARTIN, Chris PENNY, defending champion Fionn JENKINSON and Ben LYNCH. MCLAVERTY finished in a strong position, taking first place in three races however KENEFICK (second in three races) is also a strong contender. MURPHY, who came third in her first race and first in the second race, is first girl through to the final and looks in strong position to take the girls' title.

All is not lost for the rest of the senior and junior/girls' fleet who have yet to secure their place in the final as Sunday morning provides a second bite of the cherry with Repechage provided an opportunity to win one of the remaining slots.

The ISA All Ireland Sailing Championship is sponsored by the Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company. In addition Viking Marine and Topper Sailboats, in a joint sponsorship deal, will supply all new Topper sails for the Junior/Girls event which will standardize their fleet. Dublin Sea Tours are also supporting the ISA by providing a press/photographers boat for both days.
