Thanks to the clear sky, the finish of yesterday's first race in the Yngling class could be followed perfectly from shore. The scheduled races started on time and the 'no general recall policy' seemed to work. The competitors are being very disciplined at the start.

Robert Scheidt (BRA) leads the Laser class by just one point from Britain's Paul Goodison. Emilos Papathanasiou (GRE) leads the Finn class, from Ben Ainslie (GBR) and Andrew Simpson (GBR). Youngster Tom Ashley (NZL) continues to lead the Mistral men after yesterdays racing, as does Lee Lai Shan (HKG) in the Mistral Women.

Sari Multala (FIN) is leading the Europe class. The home team of Sven Coster and Kalle Coster (NED) lead the 470 men, and Kornicki Nike and Buskila Vered (ISR) lead the 470 women. Spaniards Iker Martinez and Xabi Fernandez lead the ultra competitive 49er fleet.

In the new women's Olympic class the Yngling Melanie Dennison (AUS) top the fleet. Neeleman Mark and Jos Schrier (NED) lead the Star class, and Mitch Booth and Herbert Dercksen (NED) lead the Tornado class.

Today there are very windy conditions in Medemblik (30 knots)! Europe, Star, Laser and Yngling races have started. Some boats with damage have already been forced to return to the harbour. Tough weather for all competitors! Such different conditions will suit the more versatile sailors, and we could see some big changes in the results tonight.
