Current Formula World Champions Dorota Staszewska (Neil Pryde, Starboard) and Kevin Pritchard (Gaastra, Bic, Fiberspar) have won the European Formula Windsurfing Championships in Cascais, Portugal.
After 7 races in fine racing conditions Kevin and Dorota proved once again they worthy Champions. 2nd place in the men's fleet went to Euro Cup leader Steve Allen (Fanatic) from Australia while veteran French racer Patrice Belbeoch (Exocet, Neil Pryde) places a credible 3rd. In the womens fleet, Lucy Horwood (Starboard, Gaastra) came in 2nd while the new face on the block Verena Fauster finished 3rd.

Brian Rogild (Starboard, Gaastra) from Denmark who has been working hard all season is starting to get momentum finished the regatta in 4th place while the new kid on the block Gonzalo Costa Hoevel (Starboard, Neil Pryde) from Argentina was once again knocking on the door and came in 5th place.

Kevin decided to join the fleet at Portugal with the goal to add another prestigious title to his legacy. Not knowing what to expect as most of the top sailors have been competing and training for several months in Europe. However Pritchard has been doing his homework quietly off the waters in Maui and it seems he's in superb form this early in the season. Pritchard was pushed in several races by Steve Allen who now is establishing himself as a consistent big regatta contender. Steve just coming off from winning the first Euro Cup event in Italy last month finished ahead of Patrice Belbeoch from France who has been successfully racing internationally for well over 12 seasons.

Dorota once again has made her mark on the Women's Cup, fleet racing a super regatta placing 1st in six of the seven races. Dorota is in the prime of her career and hasn't lost a title since returning to serious racing 3 years ago. 2nd place finisher Lucy Horwood from Great Britain sailed a consistent championship, and just finished ahead of Italian racer Verena Fauster who now is starting to threaten the top women Formula racers for the top honors.

Kevin Pritchard known as Mr Consistency by his team mates placed in the top 3 for the entire regatta winning 4 of the seven races. Pritchard says- "I wanted to come over here and see how my speed was against these guys, I'm pretty confident now and I'm stoked to be the European Champion". Pritchard will now travel back to the USA for the US Nationals in Corpus Christi, Texas…..which will be another test for him racing against the inform Micah Buzianis, Jimmy Diaz and defending US Champion Phil McGain.

The next event for the European contingent will be Euro-Cup on Sardinia follow by the first Formula Windsurfing Grand Prix event in Rhodes, Greece.
