Spirit of Canada crossed the finish line at 14:56:25 GMT (10:56:25 local time), as a small breeze filled in just half an hour beforehand. Congratulations Derek!

At 09:00GMT (05:00 local time), Spirit of Canada was 15 miles from the finish sailing at 4 knots but three hours later had run out of wind and was becalmed 8 miles from the finish line.

At 12.30 GMT (08:30 local time) Spirit of Canada finally found some wind and set off again at 4 knots with 6 miles to go. If the wind holds we can expect Derek to finish between 09:30 and 10:00.

Lithuania's Juozas Bernotas came out on top in the Men's RS:X whilst Russia's Stefania Elfutina was triumphant in the Women's RS:X. Both sailors claim the first Abu Dhabi ISAF Sailing World Cup Final spots whilst Jock Calvert (AUS) and Joanna Sterling (AUS) picked up the Oceanic spots for the Emirati finale.

A tight group of five young Papua New Guinean (PNG) Laser sailors are stepping up their 2015 Pacific Games competition program using this week's ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne. PNG is one of 33 countries represented at the important Oceanic event, the largest Olympic sailing regatta in the southern hemisphere.
