The International Association for Disabled Sailing (IFDS) has released guidelines for Decal Application to Mainsails (DAM) for Disabled Sailing Championships and the Paralympic Sailing Competition.
The DAM document relates to the methodology of Decal Application. DAM was prepared ahead of the 2008 Paralympic Sailing Competition but has been deliberately designed as a generic document that can be used at any regatta. Most of DAM discusses flags and names, but the principles apply to national letters, numbers, logos etc.

For details of what decals can be applied at the 2008 Paralympic Sailing Competition please refer to the IPC Manufacturers Identification Guidelines.
