The Heat 2005
Trieste, Italy

The Heat, a sailing challenge reserved only for teams that will compete at the next America's Cup in Valencia 2007, will be back in Trieste, Italy from 3-11 September 2005.
The sixth Heat will pit the America's Cup strongest teams against each other using two identical, fast and spectacular Open 55' Tuttatrieste, hulls designed by Giovanni CECCARELLI (Mascalzone Latino A.C. 2003 and +39 A.C. 2007). These are the biggest boats in match racing, and particularly good at testing a team's technical quality, ability and strategy.

Team will directly arrive from Malmo, Sweden and the Louis Vuitton Acts 6 and 7. They are: defender Alinghi (SUI); the always impressive Emirates Team New Zealand; the new China Team; Italians +39 Challenge, with the greatest concentration of medals and Olympic class titles on board, and; Luna Rossa, who will be competing with two complete crews, one captained by James SPITHILL (AUS), looking for his third Heat win and the other by Francesco DE ANGELIS (ITA).

The Heat will offer the passionate and curious audience six exciting and spectacular days of duels from Trieste's shores and docks or from Piazza Unità. This is the real added value of the event, raced in a unique, real and natural sailing stadium. This year the Heat will be transmitted by SKY Sport, which will show all the best action from the regatta and include interviews with the main protagonists.
