49er World Championship 2005

Moscow, Russia

The Organizing Committee of the ISAF Grade W 49er World Championship taking place in Moscow, Russia from 25 August-6 September are advising competitors that they can provide them with visa support only before 2 August 2005.

The Organizing Committee ask sailors to take this opportunity now, because after 2 August 2005 they will have problems obtaining the visa.

Sailors should send the filled out accommodation reservation form before 10 August and the charter flight reservation form before 2 August. The charter flight (Frankfurt -Moscow - Frankfurt) ticket cost will be 375€.

If sailors choose to take a direct flight from their home city to Moscow, the Organizer will provide transfer from any Moscow airport to the accommodation location.

The Organizer provides free boat transportation. Boat loading will be carried out on 14 August 2005 at the European Championship venue. A Schenker logistics company office will be arranged at the yacht club. Rodion LUKA was appointed as the contact person with Schenker on behalf of International 49er Class Association.

Containers arriving to Moscow will be unsealed by the customs service on 25 August. On completion of the World Championship boat loading will be carried out on 4 September. The containers will arrive in Lubeck on 10 September.

The cruise ship for accommodation will be moored at the berth of the Hosting Club on 25 August at 0600 hours. The accreditation will begin on 25 August. Competitors and guests wishing to arrive in Moscow early should use tour companies to book hotels in Moscow. Car rent is possible at agencies of Avis and Hertz companies.

Lithuania's Juozas Bernotas came out on top in the Men's RS:X whilst Russia's Stefania Elfutina was triumphant in the Women's RS:X. Both sailors claim the first Abu Dhabi ISAF Sailing World Cup Final spots whilst Jock Calvert (AUS) and Joanna Sterling (AUS) picked up the Oceanic spots for the Emirati finale.

A tight group of five young Papua New Guinean (PNG) Laser sailors are stepping up their 2015 Pacific Games competition program using this week's ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne. PNG is one of 33 countries represented at the important Oceanic event, the largest Olympic sailing regatta in the southern hemisphere.
