470 South American Championships 2007
Viña de Mar, Chile

Matias BUHLER and Marcos LAMAS (ARG) won the ISAF Grade C2 470 South American Championships with a day to spare in Viña de Mar, Chile. The Argentine pair scored a string of bullets to take the title.
The penultimate day of racing began in a 10-12 knot westerly, with a heavy chop out on the race course caused by a small earthquake in the region. BUHLER and LAMAS continued their perfect record from the opening two days with a bullet in race 7, before slipping up for the first time with a second place. Fernanda SESTO and Consuelo MONSEGURA (ARG) increased their hold on second place overall by winning race 8 ahead BUHLER and LAMAS. As the wind increased to 18 knots for the final race of the day, the overall leaders returned to their winning ways.

Alberto GONZÁLEZ and Diego GONZÁLEZ (CHI) came in second in race 9 to move within five points of SESTO and MONSEGURA with two races to go.

Sixteen crews from Argentina, Chile and Uruguay contested the 470 South Americans from 19-24 February.
