Edgar DIMINICH of Ecuador is also still theoretically in contention, although he lies eight points off the top stop. Stephanie ZIMMERMANN (PER) and Rufina TAN (MAS) are the only sailors who can dislodge these three from the podium, with the Optimist class currently looking set for a record six girls in the top 20.

Three races were sailed today in 10-12 knots with gusts. The current was quite strong towards the end of racing but this did not seem to disturb the leaders, even AUTENRIETH who is a lake sailor from Bavaria. Fortunately the weather was somewhat cooler than the 30°C plus experienced earlier in the week. One race remains to be sailed tomorrow.

Singapore Shine

Singapore seem set to walk away with the Miami Herald Trophy for the best aggregate score of their top four sailors, all of whom are in the top 20, to add to their Team Racing gold. The big question is whether they can take all three gold medals.

Both KHNG and AUTENRIETH excelled under the spotlight today as they both scored two bullets a piece, with KHNG also grabbing a sixth and AUTENRIETH a fourth. As well as having a two point lead, KHNG also holds the better discard, making her favourite to become the second girl in succession to lift the Optimist World Championship title.
