At the time of writing ten boats had completed their compulsory 48 hour stop over in Cross Haven, Cork before setting off for Barra in the Outer Hebrides.
First off were the smallest boat in the fleet, the 30ft trimaran 'Meridian', skippered by Roger Barber, who set off at 23.01 hours last night. They were followed three hours later by the 40 ft trimaran 'Molly Mawk', and third off were 'Pegasus'.
The only news from the race course is that sixth boat to set off from Cross Haven 'Bare Knuckles' had passed the Old Head of Kinsale and they reported that seventh out of Cross Haven 'J' Action' was in site of them astern.
They boats are racing towards Barra in a favourable force 3 to 4 South or South Westerly wind, that is forecast to increase to a Southerly Force 6. In this breeze it should take them around three days to reach the next stop over point, Barra, in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland.
