All Change at the Top at the 470 Europeans
Sven and Kalle Coster
Sven and Kalle COSTER lead the men's fleet

470 European Championships 2008
Riva del Garda, Italy

Elise RECHICI and Tessa PARKINSON (AUS) climb to the top of the women's leaderboard while the Coster brothers lead the men at the 470 European Championships.
Three more races were completed on day five of the ISAF Grade C1 470 European Championships and it's all change at the top of both the men's and the women's leaderboard.

An outstanding day from Australia's Elise RECHICHI and Tessa PARKINSON moves them to the top of the women's leaderboard with a solid eight point lead over second placed Sylvia VOGL and Carolina FLATSCHER (AUT) who move up one place. RECHICHI and PARKINSON posted a bullet and two second place finishes to take the lead but

Overnight leaders Amanda CLARK and Sarah MERGENTHALER (USA) had their worst day of the championship scoring 11, 5 and 31 and slip down to third place and the fortunes of Japan's Ai KONDO and Naoko KAMATA were even worse, a 14, 21 and 19 sees them down in sixth place overall.

In the men's championship, there is also a new fleet leader. Sven and Kalle COSTER (NED) now top the leaderboard but are on equal points with Gideon KLIGER and Udi GAL (ISR). The leaders from the previous two days, Javier CONTE and Juan DE LA FUENTE (ARG) had by far their worst day of the Championship, with 19, 28 and 14 scores. The Argentinean team are still however just four points behind the leaders so there is much left to sail for.

Snapping at their heels, are triple world champions Nathan WILMOT and Malcolm PAGE (AUS), who were the day's most consistent performers. WILMOT and PAGE finished sixth in the rist race of the day before picking up two bullets to put themselves back in contention. Tied on points with Pierre LEBOUCHER and Vincent GARROS (FRA) in fifth the top of the men's leaderboard is very tight, with just ten points separating the top nine boats.
