Ladies Only Match Race 2005
Hamburg, Germany

Three days of high class sailing with a full round robin, semi finals and a two close final races eventually decided the outcome of the ISAF Grade 2 Ladies Only Match Race on Lake Alster in Hamburg, Germany. Silke HAHLBROCK (GER) and her team consisting of event after two thrilling matches against Josie GIBSON (GBR).
GIBSON got stuck on the anchor of the starting vessel and could not gain enough to fulfill her penalty before the finish in the first race of the finals. The Brit, who did not lose a single battle in the round robin, won the second start but finally lost against home sailor HAHLBROCK.

Suzanne WILLIM from Germany was successful in the petit final against Yngling sailor Ulrike SCHÜMANN (GER) to finish third.

This event with competitors from eleven nations and various conditions was an excellent final of the resent high class match race events, hold at the Hamburger Segel-Club which will host the Open Match Racing European Championship next autumn.
