Berlin Match Race 2005
Berlin, Germany

The second day at the 14th ISAF Grade 2 Berlin Match Race started with the remaining flight in the the two round robin groups on Saturday morning. The top three teams of each round advanced to the next round robin stage which decided the semi finalists.
Three out of five teams representing America's Cup syndicates, namely BMW ORACLE Racing (USA), Luna Rossa Challenge (ITA) and K-Challenge (FRA), were eliminated after the first round robin along with Mathieu RICHARD (FRA) and Simon MINOPRIO (NZL).

Local hero Stefan MEISTER (GER) could not make it to the next round, but apart from that it was a good day for Germans remaining in the event. Both Jochen SCHUEMANN (GER) and Markus WIESER (GER) advanced to the semi finals along with Bjorn HANSEN (SWE) and match racing newcomer Michael HESTBAEK (DEN) representing United Internet Team Germany.

Winning just one race in round robin three was not enough for Staffan LINDBERG (FIN) and Dorte JENSEN (DEN) for making it to the next round. Despite her close elimination the event's only female skipper sailed brilliantly and included in her victories five-time Berlin Match Race winner SCHUEMANN in a thrilling match.
