The yachts were on stand by out on the Hauraki Gulf off Auckland for most of the day as the Race Committee waited for the wind to settle and build sufficient velocity for racing to commence.

A large spectator fleet, the biggest so far in the current Louis Vuitton Cup series, gathered on the water to see the opening races of the quarter final repechage. Instead, they were treated to a weird display of Auckland's weather with light fickle breezes, dense sea-fog and drizzle.

At 1540 hours, Race Officer Peter Reggio ordered the AP over A flags to be flown, indicating that no racing would take place today.

Weather permitting, racing will resume tomorrow and the best-of-seven series between OneWorld and Team Dennis Conner and between Prada and Victory Challenge will get under way.

As the highest ranked boat in the Quarter Finals, OneWorld was able to select its opponents for this round and chose another American syndicate, Team Dennis Conner. This in turn pits the Swedish Victory Challenge against the Italian Prada Challenge.

The first warning gun in the Quarter Final Repechage is scheduled for 13:05 daily.
