US Tornado National Championship
Dunedin, Fl

John LOVELL and Charlie OGLETREE (USA) won the 2003 U.S. National Tornado Championship with a nearly perfect score - finishing first in 4 of the 5 races and second in the remaining race.
Robbie DANIEL and Keith NOTARY (USA) took second place, while Lars GUCK and Jonathan FARRAR (USA) captured third place.

The Championship was organized by Tampa Bay Catamaran Sailors (TBCSI) and the races were held in the Gulf of Mexico just off Dunedin, FL. The Championship got off to a becalmed start, with no races completed on the first day. The second day of racing started with a morning postponement, but the first race was completed in light and variable wind. After the end of the first race, ominous clouds came in with a front from the north and no other races were started.

The third and final day of the Championship brought sunshine, warming temperatures, and a breeze that climbed from 7 knots to 13 knots. This turn for the better allowed four races to be completed on the final day.
