Melges 24 National Championships (GBR)

Light winds dominate the Melges 24 National Championships (GBR) taking place in Guernsey

Today (13 June) was another very light airs day with only two of the scheduled three races completed. In the first race of the day the breeze flicked hard right at the top of each beat and with a strong tide running those in the know made every effort to take what little tidal advantage was on offer. Keith Musto, always one to watch in the light airs, won by a comfortably margin followed across the line by Southampton University's Neil Harrison and Paul Brotherton helming for Ed Leask.

Race two was even more tricky with the first beat proving to be a right hand benefit and the wind shifting 180 degrees three quarters of the way down the first run leaving the boats beating in to what became the finish
line. Having taken full advantage of the paying right hand side up the first beat Jamie Lee, helming for Richard Thompson, hung on to his lead despite the massive shift with Neil Harrison and Paul Brotherton again taking second and third place.

Going into day four Jamie Lee has a comfortable 16 point lead but with a major change in weather expected for the final two days the championship remains open.
