The senior competition will be sailed in the 1720 Sportsboat and the Junior/Girls event in Topper dinghies.

The Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company are already on board as a generous sponsor and now the ISA are delighted to announce the support of Viking Marine and Topper Sailboats in a joint sponsorship deal which will allow the Junior/Girls fleet sail the event with all new Topper sails.

'2005 Champion David CROSBIE will be defending his title but he will have strong competition from Dragon nominee Neil HEGARTY who won in 2003,' said Sean CRAIG, ISA Racing Manager. 'Another pair to watch is Anthony O'LEARY and his son Peter who both qualified independently through ICRA and 1720 nominations respectively.'

The Olympic Squad nominations have not yet been confirmed but John DRISCOLL who represented Ireland at Atlanta 1996 and Star campaigner Anthony SHANKS will bring Olympic circuit experience to the event.

Dinghy classes are also putting forward strong contenders with Noel BUTLER and John MCGUINNESS both top three finishers in previous years.

In the Junior event, fellow 420 sailor Tuathal MACCOLGÁIN, who was sixth in the recent Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship will certainly put it up to reigning Junior Champion Fionn JENKINSON. Also sailing is George KENEFICK who was second overall at this year's Laser Senior Nationals.

Competing in the Junior Event but also chasing the Girls title will be Alyson RUMBALL, Diane KISSANE and Tiffany BRIEN.
