?Sail the World? Weekend

There is less than a week to go until the ?Sail the World? weekend on 1 and 2 September 2007. Around the world, yacht clubs, classes, sailors and ISAF Member National Authorities (MNA) are gearing up to join ISAF in celebrating sailing.
The idea is simple - to celebrate our sport and Get Sailing!

The Sail the World weekend is set to be one of the highlights of the ISAF Centenary and a global celebration of sailing. By getting as many people out on the water as possible - whether young or old, an experienced pro or a newcomer to the sport - ISAF wants to celebrate sailing through 'Sail the World'.

More than 100 clubs/events from 48 nations across Africa, Asian, Europe, Oceania and North and South America have so far registered their participation in the Sail the World Weekend. ISAF looks forward to bringing you photographs and reports from many diverse celebrations at every level of the sport - including open days in Australia, have a go at sailing in South Africa, National Championships in Paraguay, European Championships in Poland, Pre-Worlds in Portugal, Coaches training in New Zealand and Classic boats in Greece to name but a few.

Every club and every sailor will receive a certificate, whilst each participating MNA will receive a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.

The 'Sail the World' pack contains all the details on how to get involved. Find this, the Sail the World logo, promotional posters and more on the ISAF Sail the World microsite at www.sailing.org/sailtheworld.

ISAF Centenary

Formed in 1907, ISAF will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary throughout 2007.

ISAF will also be publishing a 100 Years of Sailing commemorative book and launching the ISAF Sailing Hall of Fame, which will take place at at a spectacular dinner hosted by the City of Estoril at Estorl Casino on 5 November.

Every ISAF event throughout 2007 will be an integral part of the Centenary celebrations. Whether a local regatta, or a World Championship event, everyone counts. ISAF would like your event to remember what a special year it is, so welcomes everyone to use the specially commissioned Centenary logo.
